Ascend really cares about the people we have on our team because they’re behind our clients’ success. One of the people who have a lot of say in who joins the Ascend team is Zack. As the facility manager for our Canyons Trauma House, he takes a lot of responsibility for keeping our day-to-day operations running smoothly. Making Facility Manager Look Easy
In addition to ensuring that our Canyons Facility is organized and safe for our clients, Zack is also in charge of recruiting and training our newest employees. He keeps up with state and JCAHO requirements and regulations, updating our staff as needed, running training sessions, and developing personal growth opportunities for all of our team members.
Because his position puts him in contact with nearly every person on our staff and all of our clients, he gets to see the emotional and mental growth they all experience from the front row. One of his favorite things to see is when clients experience their “AHA!” moments as they make progress towards better mental health, exploring their passions and stepping out of their comfort zones.
Zack’s Inspiration
Zack got his start in the behavioral health field because of his own troubled past. As someone who has struggled with mental health and made it through rehab to sobriety, he has a unique perspective on the obstacles our clients face. He was drawn to a career in behavioral health because he was driven to reciprocate some of the help he received on his own journey. Now, he wants to offer a helping hand to those in need — just like those that helped him. Nobody gave up on him as he struggled with his mental health, and he will never give up on our clients.
Why Zack Loves Ascend
Ascend is constantly looking for more ways to help our clients succeed — it’s one of Zack’s favorite things about us! We strive to be better than we were the day before, investing in the personal growth of our clients and our staff. The loyalty and compassion he sees every day make him want to keep working with Ascend forever!
Many of the clients he has worked with are doing very well and frequently reach out to him and the other staff members who helped them during their time at Canyons to check in. Creating these interpersonal connections means everything to Zack!

Zack has an amazing heart and tons of passion for our work — it’s one of his greatest contributions to our treatment facilities. He relates to so many of our clients and connects with them on a different level. Zack is constantly pushing himself and his team to improve so that we can better serve our clients — their success and happiness are our ultimate goal!
A Typical Day at Ascend
Zack’s day begins when he arrives at the facility to go through the house checklist every morning. He responds to emails from staff and client families before creating the weekly schedule for the mentors and nurses. He likes to check in with the clients around lunchtime to see how everyone is feeling, listen to concerns, and chat about the day’s therapy schedules.
As the day progresses, he deals with the ever-changing landscape of a facility manager that necessitates interviewing potential new staff, updating our safety and care compliance guidelines, and creating new training guides for our team.
